Frequently Asked Questions

We've gathered some common questions about Emily's diagnosis, treatment, and ways to help. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our coordinators.

About Emily's Treatment

When does treatment begin?

We're currently in the diagnostic phase, with Emily's PET scan scheduled for Friday. Once we have those results, her medical team will determine the specific treatment plan and start date.

Where will Emily receive treatment?

Treatment will be coordinated through Gibson Area Hospital with Dr. Chaudhry. We'll update this information once we have a more detailed treatment plan.

How long will treatment last?

The duration of treatment will depend on various factors, including the stage of the lymphoma and how it responds to initial treatments. We'll know more after the PET scan results and will update this information accordingly.

Supporting the Family

How can I help if I live nearby?

Please contact Amy Merkley at [email protected]. She's coordinating local support efforts and can help match your availability with current needs.

How can I help from far away?

Contact Jen Bosen at [email protected]. The most meaningful support includes letters to Emily and the girls, and gift cards that give us flexible options for family meals.

Can we visit?

While we love seeing friends and family, we'll need to be careful about visits during treatment due to Emily's compromised immune system. Please coordinate any visits through Amy, who will have the most up-to-date information about good times to visit.

About the Girls

How are Chloe, Phoebe, and Lydia doing?

The girls are processing this news in their own ways, supported by family, friends, and their faith. They especially appreciate cards and messages of encouragement during this time.

How can we support the girls specifically?

Letters and cards specifically addressed to them are incredibly meaningful. For other ways to support them, please coordinate through Amy, who can help ensure support aligns with their schedules and needs.

Practical Matters

What about meals?

If you'd like to help with meals, please remember that Phoebe has Celiac disease, so all food must be strictly gluten-free. Amy is coordinating meal arrangements and can provide specific dietary guidelines.

How can we stay updated?

We'll post regular updates on this website. This helps us manage communications while ensuring everyone has access to the same information.

What gift cards are most helpful?

Gift cards to Chick-fil-A and BIBIBOP are especially helpful as they have good gluten-free options. Visa gift cards also give us flexibility for various needs that arise.

“Thank you for all your questions and concern. Your love and support mean the world to us.”
